Warren "Butch"
William Oliver
Jun 25, 1942 — Jun 15, 2024
Warren "Butch" William Oliver was born on the kitchen table in his parents' Rochester, Ohio home on June 25, 1942. The son of his late parents Charles William Oliver and Hazel Leona (née Kroener), Butch is survived by his brother Charles "Chuck" Oliver and his nephew Matthew Oliver, as well as many cousins and friends.
Butch was a lifelong resident of Morrow, Ohio. As a small child, he loved playing sports. As an adult, he loved playing with his friends on softball teams, especally if they were a winning team! Butch also played on dart teams for many years.
Going with his friend Huck to the casinos was a favorite pastime, as well as attending horse races with his brother Chuck and friends. He loved house boating on Lake Cumberland with his cousins and his many friends.
Butch enjoyed meeting up with friends at Chief's Lake and the VFW in Harveysburg. He recently became a member of the Blanchester Eagles.
Attending UC games with Chuck was one of his many joys. He was a passionate Cincinnati Reds' and Bengals' fan, and he liked the Cleveland Browns!
Butch loved this country and was very proud to serve as a member of the US Army's military police during the Vietnam War. He loved politics and always wanted the best for his fellow Americans.
After his military service, Butch began a long career at Cincinnati Milacron, retiring at the age of 56.
Butch loved his big extended families on both parents' sides. He valued knowing and sharing family history. And he really thought beating his younger cousins whether in shuffleboard, croquet, or horseshoes was the greatest thing ever!
Rocky Top was Butch's theme song. At any party, when that song came on, Butch would be found dancing with all the pretty girls.
Summertime found Butch happily tending his garden. Butch loved to eat and he loved sharing his bounty with family and friends.
Butch and his brother, often accompanied by cousins, loved to travel. There are many great memories of visits, which often included camping, in North Carolina, Colorado, Nevada, New York, Washington, California, and many other states. Sitting around the campfire in the evening with a cold beer and a hot dog while swapping stories with family and friends made a great finish to Butch's day.
No one could ask for a better brother, uncle, cousin, or friend than Butch. He loved being with and helping those he loved. He will be missed by all who knew him.
