Vanetta (nee: Slusher) McCarty, 69, of Morrow, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Bethesda North Hospital. Born on November 2, 1956 to Dan and Iva Glen (nee: Moore) Slusher in Cincinnati, OH, Vanetta enjoyed life's simple joys and found happiness in the things she loved most — going to the casino, attending La Comedia performances, shopping, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She cherished cozy evenings watching Hallmark movies and sharing the company of her baby Yorkie, Bella. Her warmth, laughter, and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Preceded in death by her husband, George "Sonny" Nichols, her parents, her brother, Jack Slusher and 7 sisters, Ann Corey, Betty Herbert, Connie Bailey, Linda Bryant, Lula Thery, Rosie Lambert and Rhonda Henson.

She is survived by her daughters, Kandie Hembree, Kathy (Aaron) Lloyd, Ginger Nichols, Theresa Possel and her dog, Bella, whom she loved like a child, one son, Patrick Nichols, her best friend, Wanda Morris, one sister, Myrtle Ogelsby, 8 grandchildren, McKenzie Hembree, Summer Hembree, Damien Lloyd, Avery Shumaker (Raeanna Malone), Katelynn Hembree, Gracie Lloyd, Braylon Hollan and Siarra Nichols,one great-granddaughter, Loretta and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation, Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM with a service immediately following at 11:00 AM, all at the Vale-Hoskins Funeral Home, Morrow. Interment will follow in Morrow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the funeral home to go towards funeral expenses.
