Sylvan Russell Steward Jr.,78 (aka "Butch" and "Stew"),  of Kings Mills, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Bethesda North Hospital.  Born on October 18, 1943 to Sylvan R. Steward Sr. and Helen M. (nee: Monce) Steward in Lebanon, Ohio.  Sylvan was a 1961 graduate of Lebanon High School.  After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, stationed in San Diego, he obtained an associate's degree in electronics from Southwestern College.  He spent many years as an aircraft mechanic for the US Navy.  After retirement, he held various jobs the most notable being School Bus driver for Kings Mills where he was loved by all.  He enjoyed boating, camping, being outdoors, and oldies music.  Sylvan was devoted to spending time with his family.

Preceded in death by his parents, his five brothers, Leslie, Richard, Gerald, David, and Herschel, his five sisters, Mildred Hall, Anita Patterson, Monna Williams, Bernice Sargeant, and Virginia Hobson. He is survived by his significant other Linda Van Pelt of Kings Mills, two sons, Russ (Cindy) Steward of Harrison, TN, Tony Steward of Morrow, daughter Candy (Rex) Lynch of Columbus, sister Betty Clark, eight grandchildren, Steven Steward, Shawn Steward, Samuel Steward. Scott Steward, Sarah Garcia, Rachael Williamson, Zach Steward, and Cora Gillispie, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
