Stephen Robert Beason of Lebanon, Ohio, passed away on May 29, 2026, at the University of Cincinnati Hospital with his wife by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on September 13, 1947, in Xenia, Ohio, to Marion Robert and Betty Lou Beason (née Bottorff), Steve's fondest childhood memories were of spending time on the family farm with his grandparents and extended family.
Steve was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving for seven and a half years, including tours of duty aboard the USS America and USS Forrestal in the Mediterranean. During his military service, his first beloved son, Justin, was born. His time in the Navy also sparked a lifelong love of travel.
After leaving the Navy, Steve attended Wright State University, where he earned a degree in Computer Science. He launched a successful professional career and quickly became recognized for his leadership abilities. While working at Digital Equipment Corporation in Massachusetts, he met the love of his life, Patricia. The two shared 42 years of marriage. Steve later served in executive leadership positions, including President and Vice President roles at several corporations, including Lamson Corporation in New York and IBM. Throughout her childhood, his daughter Mandy, enjoyed visiting him wherever his professional roles brought him. Following his corporate career, he founded and operated several small businesses in Ohio. Throughout his professional life, Steve valued relationships above all else and will be remembered as a mentor, advocate, and friend to many.
Steve loved cooking, traveling, reading, and spending time with family in Ohio and New England. He developed lasting friendships throughout the United States and Canada that he cherished deeply. Pat and Steve shared an unwavering love for their son Nicholas, and caring for him throughout his short but precious life created a bond that further strengthened their marriage.
Over the last several years, Steve faced numerous health challenges with determination and grace, supported every step of the way by Pat. He never complained or became discouraged. He will be remembered for his love of laughter and life, his sharp wit, courage, authenticity, strength, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Justin Robert Beason and Nicholas Stephen Beason; his brother, James Beason; and his brothers-in-law, Dr. Alan Gunn and John Stigliani.
