Sophia (nee: Roark) Reed, 101, of Lebanon passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at her residence. Born on May 24, 1925 to Charlie and Lucy (nee: Smith) Roark in Manchester, KY.
Preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Roy Reed, 12 siblings, one grandson, David Matthew Reed and two daughters-in-law, Rhonda Reed and Jennifer Reed. She is survived by her two sons, Gerald Reed and David (Karen) Reed,five grandchildren Annie (Kevin) Simmons and their children Elex, Owen. Cindy (Bryan) Zeiher and their children Aaron, Colton. Emily (Dustin) Smith and their children Kaitlyn, Boone, Glen, Angel, Henry. Abigail Reed and her children Wyatt, Lucy. William Reed.
Sophia grew up deep in the heart of the Daniel Boone National Forest on the eastern side of Kentucky. She and Roy moved to Lebanon in 1958 and immersed themselves in the local community. Her loyalty to her husband and sons never wavered and as her family expanded so did her love, loyalty, and fierce defense of them.
Sophia was a homemaker, an incredible seamstress, Granny, and Great Granny that cherished each new addition to the family. Above all Sophia was a seeker of the heart of God, wanting to exhibit the love of Jesus in her home and to the family. She read the Bible every day always wanting to learn more about our Savior’s sacrificial birth, death and resurrection. In life and in death she was exemplary. Her influence will live on for generations.
Online condolences are welcomed. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM in Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideon’s International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.
