Obituary

Sharry Kaye Issler Long died on August 23, 2024, at the age of 79. She is survived by her devoted husband, R. Stuart Long, of 60 years, one sister, Carrol Louise Hickman (Tim), and one brother, Ralph Richard Issler II (Diana). She is also survived by her daughter, Malinda Long-Copland (Brendon), and their children, Catherine and Grant. Born on July 28, 1945, to Ralph Richard Issler and Alice Green Issler, Sharry
was preceded in death by her parents, along with sisters, Sue Ann Meister (Paul) and Donna Jean Luckeydoo (Rocky), and a brother, John Travis Issler (Sheila).

Sharry met her husband, Stu, on the family farm and they dated throughout high school. She was a graduate of Elgin High School in Marion, Ohio. They were married in Monroe, Michigan on August 7, 1964. Sharry attended Wilmington College. Her career spanned over thirty years in administration, culminating in her role as Tax Commissioner for the City of Blue Ash. Sharry was actively involved in many professional tax associations, such as SWOTAA, Regional Income Tax Association, and Ohio Municipal League, holding several leadership roles. Sharry also helped develop tax software used throughout the State of Ohio. Additionally, she never lost a court case. A lifelong Lutheran, Sharry was involved in the church throughout her life by singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, serving in the nursery, attending Bible studies, supporting outreach efforts, acting as Historian, serving on Council, being an usher and an unofficial welcome committee greeter, as well as being a charter member of planting King of Kings Lutheran Church in Mason, Ohio. Sharry also volunteered countless hours mowing and landscaping the church grounds. Sharry grew up on a farm in Prospect, Ohio. She carried that love of growing things, becoming an avid horticulturalist. She grew plants inside and out and was known for her green thumb. Sharry was part of Lebanon Weed & Seed Garden Club, acting as Vice President and Secretary. Sharry was also a voracious reader and enjoyed cipher puzzles, flower arranging, scrapbooking, collecting geodes, and traveling. One trip included going to Florida to learn to swim as an adult, conquering her fear of water. A devoted Christian, wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, and friend, perhaps Sharry's greatest joy was her grandchildren. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
