Saundra Lee Baty
January 17, 1939 - October 6, 2022
Saundra "Sandy" Baty, 83, was born in Middletown, Ohio to Seth and Mae Williams, and peacefully left her earthly body on October 6th, 2022, in Hampstead, North Carolina where she had resided for the past 22 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert "Bob" Baty, their two children Karen (Terry) Tackett, Otis (Julie) Baty, four grandchildren Joshua (Sara) Baty, Jordan Baty, Luke Goshorn, Leanne (Brandon) Nixon, one great-grandchild Oliver Goshorn, and two of her five siblings, Nancy (Keith) Gabbard, and Elaine Gilbert. Her parents, brothers Danny and Charles, and sister Peggy (Donald) Shearer preceded her in their passings.
Sandy was a stellar graduate of Middletown High School and in addition to lovingly caring for her family, had a somewhat "mysterious" (as she was not permitted to speak about the classified position she held) and outstanding career in top secret government research at Mound Laboratories in Miamisburg, Ohio. After retiring and spending the next few years enjoying life in Lebanon, Ohio, she, and Bob moved to Hampstead, N.C. where they resided on a golf course and enjoyed life at the "beach." Sandy was an avid shell collector, boater, and beach walker. She accumulated a spectacular shell collection while combing hundreds of miles of beach. Her highest priority, however, was caring for and spending time with her family and friends.
Of all the things that can be said of and attributed to Sandy, most important to her was service and love for others, never putting herself first. Anyone who was blessed enough to cross paths with her came away feeling important and loved. She held her faith as most important and welcomed all without judgement. Mathew 22:37-40 says Jesus replied "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind, this is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, "Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments." Sandy embodied this as much as anyone can. She will be sorely missed in body but ever present in our hearts, thoughts, and spirit. We love you!!
A service in her honor will be held at Oswald Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon, Ohio on Saturday, October 22, 2022, with visitation at 11:00 A.M., Celebration at noon, followed by a grave side gathering at Lebanon Cemetery.
