Richard Leroy
Shuey
Sep 29, 1948 — Jun 7, 2024
SHUEY, Richard LeRoy, 75, of Pleasant Plain, OH passed away at his home on Friday, June 7, 2024. Born September 29, 1948 in St Annes, MO to LeRoy and Vivian (nee: Kennerson) Shuey, he was a proud US Coast Guard veteran serving during Vietnam. Richard was a longtime tenured professor at Thomas More University before his retirement in 2019 where he was beloved by both teachers and students alike. A member of the Lions Club, he was particularly passionate about his involvement with Habitat for Humanity and was a proud Kentucky Colonel.
Richard truly never met a stranger, from the elevator to a restaurant you soon became his friend. Everywhere he went he made a point to talk to his server or the pharmacist or the delivery people. He always felt a need to show others his appreciation of their work which he normally did through providing snacks and cookies. However, none of that compares to his love and adoration for his wife and his kids. He always remembered to keep the house full of fresh flowers for his wife and his kids stocked with all of their favorite snacks. He rarely asked for anything himself except for audience in which he would regale them with stories from his life. He was an exceptional man and will be sorely missed by anyone who ever met him.
Preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Brenda Lynn Shuey, he is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Ann (nee: Majnerich), his sons, Richard J. (Annie) Shuey and David (Roselyn) Shuey, his daughters, Laura (Eric) Weatherholt and Angela Felts, his brother, Craig Shuey, his sisters, Diana (Ken) Paradise and Denise (Terry) Edward, his ten grandchildren, Amanda Prater, Brandon Shuey, Madison Shuey, Samuel Felts, Ted Felts, Aaron Espelage, Nicholas Weatherholt, Logan Frazier, Dylan Frazier, and Libby Frazier-Nelson and her two great grandchildren, Jase and Ember.
Visitation, Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 5-7 PM with funeral service on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11 AM, all at the Vale Hoskins Funeral Home, Morrow. Interment will follow in Edwardsville Cemetery.
