Obituary

Scott, Richard Ray, 71, of Lebanon, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born April 26, 1954 in Plainfield, IN to Robert Morris Scott and Bessie May (nee: Smith) Scott, he owned and operated Bess Transport for many years. He was a member of the New Freedom Church and attended Full Gospel Church of God as well.

He was hard working and loved his career of driving a semi truck. Family came first and meant everything to him. His wife and kids were his world. He is known by his kids and even their friends for his advice rather you wanted it or not. He may have been a simple man but he had lived life and was an overcomer so he had great advice to give. He loved a fast car and a clean truck. There will never be another one like him.

Preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Roger Scott and his sister, Judy VanWinkle. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Renee (nee: Cates) Scott, his sons, Richard (Sharon) Scott Jr, Philip (Mary) Scott, Travis (April) Scott, and Dylan (Brittany) Scott, his daughters, Kelly (Shawn) Riddell and Emily (Brian Bailey) Scott, his step sons, Josh Hall and Isaiah (Toria) Hall, his step daughters, Jodi Case and Jenni (Darren) Woods, His fur baby Violet Scott, his brothers, Robert Scott and Paul (Donna) Scott, his brother in laws, Kevin (D'Lana) Cates and David Cates, his grandchildren,Nicholas Scott,Elysa Scott,Carter Scott,Ty Scott,Philip Scott, Chase Scott (Hannah), Bryce Scott,Hayden Martin (Emma), Lane Martin (Ashley), Jake Riddell (Tara), Nate Riddell (Maddy), Hannah Riddell, Maylee Bailey, Cody Case (Bri), Connor Case, Raylan Hall, Gabbie Hall, Tucker Hall, Sarah Mockabee (Davey), Austin Woods (Anna), Maddie Barber (Ben). His grand dog Zire Scott, his many great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family and his best friend of 59 years Danny Bowman.

Visitation, Friday, February 20,, 2026 from 6-9 PM at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 12 Noon at the New Freedom Church, 840 Miller Road, Lebanon, OH 45036. Reverend Joe Shutts and Reverend Sammy Reed officiating. Interment follows in Turtlecreek Cemetery.
