Rhea Catherine Wills

Rhea Catherine (nee: Laird) Wills, 84, of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Otterbein. Born on July 23, 1942 to Chalmer and Mayme (nee: Hendrix) Laird in French Lick, IN.

Preceded in death by her first husband, John Guard, her second husband, Ron Wills, and her daughter, Jessica Choate.

She is survived by her sons, Larry (Courtney) Laird, John (Kate) Laird, her step-sons, Gregg (Jill) Wills and Chris (Amy) Wills, two brothers, Larry Laird and Jim Laird and one sister, Mary Ann Martinez and multiple foster siblings.

Rhea married her first husband, John Guard shortly after high school and started a career at Lebanon Citizen’s Bank. She remained married to John until Alzheimer’s forced her divorce from John to save their family farm. While she had legally divorced John, her heart never left him, even when he passed away. In her early 50’s, her life was transformed. She married Ron Wills, and took in her nephews and niece. Larry (8), Jess (6) and John (5). Rhea and Ron raised them as their own through the ups and downs that came with raising three small children to adulthood. There were many challenges for everyone in that new environment, especially timing the bacon in the oven! She eventually stepped down as an executive at Lebanon Citizen’s National Bank to take a larger role in her and Ron’s business, A-1 by ServiceMaster remaining there until her retirement. Ron and Rhea remained very active with golf and volunteering with hospice until their health no longer allowed it. She will be missed.
