Raymond
Flittner
Nov 20, 1948 — Jan 2, 2025
FLITTNER, Raymond Louis, 76, of Lebanon, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Born November 20, 1948 in Evansville, IN to Cletus Anthony and Dolores Eileen (nee: Ulmo), he was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and papa to his family. Ray was a proud US Navy veteran and lived a life of faith, love, determination and dedication. After graduating from Indiana State University, he built a successful career as a programmer, first at Mead Corporation in Dayton and later at LexisNexis, before retiring from Ameritas in 2016.
Ray found immense joy in the company of his beloved family. He dedicated his life to providing for his wife, their children and grandchildren. He treasured time spent at the beach with Maggie and cherished gatherings where his entire family came together. Known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and sharp wit, Ray brought warmth and humor to everyone he met. He was a master of the one-liner and could always be counted on for a clever dad joke, or a zip-tie "fix-it" masterpiece that showcased his unique problem-solving skills.
As a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lebanon, Ray lived a life guided by faith and served as a quiet example of patience, kindness, and unwavering commitment. His family will remember his favorite catch phrases of "slow and steady" and "what your head doesn't do your feet have to do" as they carry on his legacy of love, strength, and resilience.
Ray is preceded in joining the Lord by his parents and his brother, Kenny Flittner. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Maggie (nee: Oberst) Flittner; his children, Douglas (Shannon) Flittner, Travis (Kelsey) Flittner, and Amy (Michael) Luke; and his cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Alex, Emily (Jack), Beau, Anna, Allie, Jackson, and Lincoln. He is also survived by his siblings Ron (Sue Ann) Flittner, Donald (Kim) Flittner, Chuck (Marsha) Flittner, Lori (Ray) Martin, Tricia (Donald) Rupprecht, Kathryn (Steve) LaPlante, Deneice (Stan) Henderson, and Janice (Tom) Small, as well as his sister-in-law, Karen Flittner.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, with Father Brice Berger presiding.
Memorial contributions can be made to Ohio's Hospice's American Pride program for Veterans at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420, or online at www.ohioshospice.org/give. Please note "American Pride" program when making your donations.
Ray's family and friends will remember him as a man who found true happiness in the love of his family and the strength of his faith. Though his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, his legacy of love, kindness, never-ending fight and humor will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him.
