SHAWHAN, Ralph Thompson, 78, of Franklin, passed away at his residence on Thursday, August 5, 2021. Born August 11, 1942 in Dayton, OH to Lawrence George and Irma (nee: Thompson) Shawhan, he was a 1960 graduate of Franklin High School where he was the Valedictorian. Ralph was a proud Eagle Scout receiving the God and Country Award and the Silver Award. Ralph went to Ohio Wesleyan University earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree. He then attended Indiana University getting his Masters Degree and his PhD. He retired from the Louisiana State University after many years as an English Professor. He is survived by his son, George Thompson Shawhan and his granddaughter, Madeleine Shawhan. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 1 PM at the Lebanon Cemetery.
