HAYES, Michael, 79, of Morrow, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Born July 2, 1943 in Berea, KY to Fred and Lorene (nee: Perciful) Hayes, he was retired from the Continental Can Company after many years as a machine maintenance man. After his retirement from Continental Can, Mike went on to work for Warren County Water and Sewer Dept from 1996 until his second retirement in 2014. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he was a member of the NC Harmony #2, Morrow Masonic Lodge #265 and the Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite. Mike had a heart for service and he showed that by volunteering for many years with the Morrow/Salem Township Fire Department serving as both a firefighter and EMT. He also served the village as a Morrow Councilman. Mike was loved by all that knew him, with his charismatic and playful personality, confirmed by the many stories shared by friends through the years, he was always the "life of the party".
Preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandra "Nina" Hayes. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra (nee: Rice) Hayes, his daughters, Lorri Buckler and Tina (Jim) Osborne, his step daughter, Jodee Bishop, his step son, Joe (Holly) Whisman, his brother, Barry (Denise) Hayes, his sister, Julie (Tim) Driscoll, his nephew, Kyle (Tasha) McGeorge, his niece, Rebecca Hayes, his great nephews, Kyle and Henry, his special fur friend, Rowan Bishop, his grandchildren, Chris (Ellie) Bishop, Tayler (Becca) Bishop, Corey Buckler, Tiffany Bishop, Trent Buckler, Cassandra (Greg) Webb, Connor (Jodi) Davis, Blayne (Jessica) Buckler, Caleb (Amber) Davis, Kirsten (Michael) Adkins, and Henry S. Whisman, and his great grandchildren, Evie, Juliette, EmmaLynn, Emeliana, Charlotte, Jaydelyn, Jaxton, Avery and one on the way, Maggie.
Visitation, Saturday February 4, 2023 from 11AM until 1 PM with a Celebration of Life Service following at 1 PM, all at the Pleasant Plain Presbyterian Church, 10198 St Rt 132, Pleasant Plain OH 45162. Reverend Kevin Waters officiating. A dinner reception is planned immediately following, also at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Morrow/Salem Township Fire Department in Mike's name. Arrangement by the Vale-Hoskins Funeral Home, Morrow.
