Obituary

Michael Anthony Fisher, age 71, of Morrow, Ohio, passed away at home on July 29, 2023 after battling a rare and aggressive form of melanoma for the past several months.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sheri; four children Allison (Tom) Clark, Jesse (Tyler) Parsons, Brett (Valerie) Fisher, and Laura (Matt) Mueller; sixteen grandchildren McKenna, Olivia, Presley, and Ben Clark, Gage, Reese, Luke, and Beau Parsons, Sam, Max, Oscar, Violet, Ace, and Olive Fisher, and Zeke and Wade Mueller; as well as numerous siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mike was born on February 18, 1952 to Bill and Shirley Fisher in Lima, Ohio.  The oldest of seven children, he graduated from Carroll High School in Dayton, Ohio in 1970.  Ever the hard worker, Mike paid for his own college by working at his local Kroger while attending Sinclair Community College.  He saved up enough money to transfer to Bowling Green State University as an upper classman and graduated in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering.  Mike spent many memorable years in sales at Cincinnati Milacron, Richard Equipment, and C&E Sales before starting his own successful manufacturer's representative company, Motion and Control Sales, in 1999.

Mike and Sheri were married on their gorgeous property on July 10, 1981 and were as much in love that day as they were the day he passed.  Mike built their beautiful house himself and together they made it a home.  They created and nurtured a marriage that was an inspiration to all that knew them.  After 42 years, they never lost their spark and still truly enjoyed each other's company.

Mike's motto for life was "You don't live to work, you work to LIVE."  He built a very successful career, but always knew life was for living and that spending time with his family and on his many hobbies was time well spent.  At home, Mike enjoyed farming, tinkering in the barn, catching up with his kids, and playing with his grandchildren.  He loved quiet days at the houseboat, early morning ski sessions on his Mastercraft, fishing excursions with the grandkids, relaxing campfires, and Euchre games with epic win streaks.  During retirement, Mike and Sheri enjoyed traveling the country in their motorhome.  Some of his favorite trips were Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, a once in a lifetime trip to several of the Hawaiian Islands, RZR riding in Moab, and many ski trips to Breckenridge.  Mike saw more fantastic places and did more incredible things in the past 5 years than most people get to experience in their entire lives.

If his friends or family had to choose someone to be stranded on a deserted island with, Mike Fisher was the unanimous first choice.  He was a resourceful, jack-of-all-trades, Mr. Fix It.  Mike loved sharing his life skills with his family and friends.  Many that knew him would seek him out for questions on a variety of problems and he loved figuring out the solutions.  Mike was quick-witted, logical, and an absolute master at getting a great deal.  He had the funniest sense of humor and the best Fisher cackle.  Mike was a man you could count on no matter what and he would drop everything, at any time, for those he loved.  He loved his family more than anything in the world and had few regrets in life.  If we all live even half the life Mike has lived, we should count ourselves infinitely lucky.

Mike will be immeasurably missed, but legends never die.

The family has chosen to forego traditional services and will instead be hosting a Celebration of Life at their home on September 16 from 1pm-4pm.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the charity of your choice in Mike's memory.
