Marion L.
Spray
Apr 18, 1934 — Oct 11, 2025
Marion passed away peacefully, just a little past noon, October 11th, 2025. He was 91. He was born in Lebanon, Ohio to Lester Spray and Idella Plank Spray. As a young boy his family moved about and he went to several different schools, receiving a GED from the Army.
He was drafted and served in the US Army from '56-'58 as an aircraft mechanic. Stationed at Holloman AFB, White Sands Missile Range working on L-19 spotter planes.
After his service ended he embarked on a career that always let him get behind the wheel of a truck. Whether a ready mix truck for Wm. Oeder Ready Mix or Charles H. Hamilton Excavating, moving heavy equipment from job to job.
His forced retirement at age 87, due to insurance was a heartbreaking event. He was the happiest being behind the wheel of his 1994 WesternStar. Even at 87 he was a sharp, safe operator. He was the consummate professional trucker.
He attended Blanchester First Church of God every Sunday, never missing unless he was ill. His faith in God was unwavering. He said the solutions to our problems are in the Bible. All you have to do is read it.
He loved his family and enjoyed vacationing with them. Anytime one of my siblings needed help, Marion was there. He thought the same way about all of us kids and grandkids!
He was a life member of Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association. He loved traveling with me to the semi annual board meetings after his retirement. He was well liked by all the board members and staff.
I will miss him greatly after being involved so much and traveling so many miles together. I was by his side when he passed talking to him and telling him I loved him. I know that he's with the Lord and his suffering is over. I love you, Dad.
He is survived by a son Monte (Charlotte) Wiederhold. Two grandchildren, Stephanie Wiederhold and Leslie Wiederhold. A sister Phyllis Riggs. He had many nieces, nephews and several step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Clark Wiederhold Spray, James E. Wiederhold (step-son), Ruth A. Wysong (step-daughter), Karen Trainer (step-daughter) James Spray (brother) Inez Jeannette Swigert (sister).
Visitation, Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, with a service immediately following at 12:00 PM, all at the Vale-Hoskins Funeral Home, Morrow. Interment will follow in Edwardsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Blanchester First Church of God.
