Marilyn Rae
Rutherford
Nov 14, 1963 — Feb 11, 2026
RUTHERFORD, Marilyn Rae (née Nelson), 62, of Oregonia, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. She was born November 14, 1962, in Springfield, Ohio, to Raymond and Darlene (née Fitch) Nelson.
Marilyn graduated in 1982 from United Christian Academy. She spent over 20 dedicated years with Fujitec America in the payroll and benefits department. She also devoted more than 10 years to the Golden Lamb. In the last year, she built and ran a successful cleaning business that she was incredibly proud of. More than the work itself, she treasured the relationships she built and genuinely loved her clients. Marilyn had a strong faith that guided her life and the way she cared for others.
Marilyn loved to have fun. Her laughter was contagious and could instantly lift the mood of anyone around her. She carried a warmth that stayed with you long after she left. She had been a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where she enjoyed friendship and fellowship. The beach was one of her favorite places, and she loved to travel to Florida to enjoy the sunshine, seafood, and the sand beneath her feet.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Steve Rutherford; and her sister, Tracy Ann Nelson.
She leaves behind so many who loved her — her longtime love, Michael Middleton; her son, Jacob Scott Rutherford; her "baby girl" granddaughter, Reagan; her brother, Gerald Lee (Rae) Nelson; her sister, Wathenia Mae (Bob) Grey; her brother-in-law, Bobby Crabtree; and her cherished nieces and nephews, Matthew Grey (Emily), Cheryl (George), Yvonne, Kristin (Michael), Misty (Steve), and Rashé (Stephen), along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 10–11 AM, with funeral service immediately following, all at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon, with Pastor Paul Dowdy officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason.
Marilyn will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the joy and love she brought into every life she touched. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Marilyn's Go Fund Me established for funeral expenses. Contributions may be made at https://gofund.me/b6a3f1962
