Margaret Ann
Patrick
Mar 5, 1943 — Jun 13, 2024
Margaret "Peg" Ann McDermott Patrick passed away on June 13, 2024. Peg was born to Charles and Kathryn (Ferry) McDermott on March 5, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the third of four children. In her childhood, she was known as "Peggy," and could almost always be found reading a book. After she graduated from Griffith High School in Griffith, Indiana in 1961, Peggy began her career at Simmons, where she met Charles Samuel Patrick, originally from Hammond, Indiana. On May 6, 1967, they were united in matrimony and began to build a family and life together and welcomed four children: Sean Michael, Mary Colleen, Cristin Ann, & Claire Ann. They lived in Highland, Indiana for thirty-eight years next door to neighbors and close friends, Steffie and Jimmy Vaughn. In October of 1976, after a long battle with cancer, their oldest, Sean, passed away. During the following years, Peg gladly worked as a secretary for the Diocese of Gary, Indiana for ten years, and then as a secretary for Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. After nearly 40 years of active and joyful membership at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Peg and Chuck moved to Douglasville, Georgia in 2005. Peg loved her work as the school secretary at Saint Rose Academy Catholic School. In December of 2012, her beloved Charles Samuel Patrick passed away. Everyone prayed he would hug Sean for them. For the next five years, Peg found much purpose in her work at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church and attended daily Mass there. In the Spring of 2018, she was blessed to help care for her first great-grandchild in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Peg made her final move in November of 2018 to Lebanon, Ohio. Peg was big-hearted and vibrant, she accepted everyone with an open heart and a perpetual smile. She did not know a stranger and immensely enjoyed conversations with everyone she interacted with. She greatly loved her family, her Catholic Faith, and reading. She was a constant seeker of knowledge through the books that she read, and the word puzzles she played. During the last 6-years of her life, Peg was a daily Mass participant, a member of a ladies' crochet club, a member of the parish Bible Study, a choir member, a lector, a daily listener of Catholic Radio, and continued to be an avid reader. On March 5, 2024, Peg celebrated her 81st birthday. During her last months, she enjoyed seeing so many relatives and friends. On June 13, 2024, at 8:30 am, after Jesus in the Eucharist had entered the room, Margaret Ann Patrick breathed her last three breaths, as her three daughters watched and prayed. When thinking of how to summarize Peg, this verse comes to mind: "He had no stately form or majesty that we would look at Him" Isaiah 53:2. Peg was not a woman lent to great outward displays, she simply took the next right step. Those who survive her, knew her as "Peggy," "Peg," "Mom," "Mimi," and "Grammy." Eternal Rest Grant unto her, O Lord, and may the perpetual Light shine upon her, may her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
Peg is survived by her daughters, Colleen Adams and her husband Rodney, Cristin Hendrickson and her husband Clay, Claire Barker and her husband Ryan, her grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Jacob, Hope, Samuel, Aaron, Jenna, Emily, Emma, Andrew, Mary Claire, Ainsley, Daniel, Ellyse, Noah, and Rachel, her great-grandchildren Catherine, Josephine, John, and Thomas, her sisters Barbara Kline and her husband Donald, and Judi Crider, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Kathryn, her husband, Charles, her son, Sean Michael, her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Rose McDermott, and her brother-in-law Harold Crider.
