John David Shupe, 56, of Lebanon, OH, died Monday, November 2, 2026, at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash, OH after a valiant 11-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born May 5, 1970, in Van Wert, OH. He was the son of David and Linda (Simon) Shupe and is preceded in death by his father.

On September 13, 1997 he married Paula (Bosko) Shupe, who survives him.

Also surviving are his daughter Felicity (Shupe) Redmon and son-in-law Robert Redmon of Marietta, GA; his son, Jonah Shupe and daughter-in-law Audrey (Zorman) Shupe of Dayton, OH; and his sister Lisa (Shupe) Saunier and brother-in-law John Saunier of Springboro, OH.

John was a mechanical engineer working for GE Aerospace, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a 1988 graduate of Van Wert High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1994.

John’s hobbies included woodworking, photography, genealogy, and cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes in football and basketball. He was a well-read historian, with a passion for historical narrative non-fiction, particularly about the Civil War, the US military, WWII, and the state of Ohio. He loved traveling all over the world and experiencing new foods and cultures.

John was deeply devoted to his savior, Jesus Christ, and was intentional about his daily relationship with God. He served his church as an Elder and a Trustee. He was passionate about Missions work, putting his natural handy-skills to work helping multiple communities with hurricane relief and assisted in helping build a church in Xocempich, Mexico. In response to his own cancer diagnosis, he started a new ministry, Confident Hope, to offer spiritual and emotional support to others living with a cancer diagnosis.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Monday, November 9, at Lebanon Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Jeff Moore officiating. Calling hours are from 10 a.m - 12 p.m. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, OH.
