LUMMIS, John Edward, 81, of Lebanon, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the Atrium Medical Center. Born February 22, 1942 in Middletown, OH to James and Doris (nee: Maines) Lummis, John spent his childhood growing up in Miamisburg, OH. A 1960 graduate of Patterson Co-Op High School, he started his career working at NCR, followed by 30 years with General Motors working as a skilled screw machine operator before retiring at 59.
After his retirement, John became an avid collector and seller of vintage toys and Disney memorabilia. He enjoyed going to auctions to see what treasures he could find. John loved trips to Disney with his family, and he was always happy to spend time at the beach. Family time was important to him, and he was an avid card player. An avid sports enthusiast, he particularly enjoyed following the Reds, Bengals, Bearcats and UD Basketball.
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice Darlene Lummis, his stepson, Jon Emmel his sister, Pam Mullen and an infant brother, Joseph "Joey" Lummis. . Survivors include his two daughters, Constance Ring of Cincinnati and Cynthia (Steven) Johnson of Lebanon, his two stepsons, James Emmel of Everett, WA, and James D. (Kelly) Kiser, JR of Davenport, Fl, his brothers, James (Rikki) Lummis of Pinckney, MI, Thomas (Jeanie) Lummis of Duluth, MN, Robert (Debra) Lummis of Springboro, OH, and William Lummis of Bradenton, FL, his sister, Joann Chesney of Miamisburg, OH, 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and ,many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Per John's request, the family will have a Celebration of Life, Saturday January 13, 2024 from 2-4 PM at Traditions of Lebanon clubhouse, 401 Neil Armstrong Way Lebanon, OH 45036. . Memorial donations may be directed to NewPath Child & Family Solutions. Arrangements by the Oswald Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon.
