Georgetta Sheila
Loraine Sims
Aug 18, 1957 — Mar 20, 2026
Georgetta Sheila Loraine Sims (aka Sissy) was born in Middletown, Ohio on August 18, 1957. She was the 4th of 10 children born to the late Gerald Clifton Sims, Sr. and Ethel (Bruce) Sims. Georgetta is a lifelong resident of Lebanon, OH. She matriculated through the Lebanon Schools and graduated in 1975. Following graduation she attended Xavier University where she studied Marketing and Sociology. After attending Xavier Georgetta returned to Lebanon where she worked as a shoe store manager and later at the Metropolitan Housing Authority. Georgetta moved to law enforcement where she served at the Warren County Sheriff's Department and rose to the rank of Sargeant from which she retired after 30 plus years. After retirement she became actively involved in the community where she served on the Pleasant Square Community Center to raise the funding to build a new community center. The project is scheduled to begin construction in 2027. Georgetta continued to contribute even after she was physically unable to attend meetings except by zoom.
Georgetta spent many years making friends and endearing the community with her effervescent spirit and loving personality. She was direct but kind and warm. Her siblings remember her days as a child on Pleasant Street playing two square, baseball, and basketball. Many of her university and work friends remember her as a fun, energetic, adoring warm hearted woman that loved to laugh, work hard, and treat others with respect.
She is survived by her siblings: Rick Sims of San Diego, CA; Darrell Sims of New York, NY; Victor Dwayne Sims of Lebanon, OH; Thomas Sims of Cincinnati, OH; Kenneth Sims of West Chester, OH; Cheryl Sims of Fairfield, OH and Tyrone Sims of Lebanon, OH. Georgetta is
predeceased by 2 siblings: Gerald Clifton Sims, Jr. and Tonja Sims. Also surviving her are her special nieces, Shelay Sims of Cincinnati, OH, Maya (Jordan) Crews of Cincinnati OH, and is predeceased by Yvette Wright. Her survivors also include her great nieces and nephews: Giovanni Sims, Kain Richardson, Ah'Mair, Saint Sims, Brandon Wright, Nicole Newsome, Aubrey Bass Sims, Alana Crews, and Shana Wright.
Georgetta leaves numerous cousins, including a special cousin to her with whom she worked on the Pleasant Square Committee, Karen Bently. She had lots of friends, neighbors, and co workers who she considered part of her extended family. Some have predeceased her but she
would want some of them mentioned: Angie, Julie, Earlene, Barbara, Karen, Betty, and many others that would take too long to name.
Georgetta's life was a testament in determination and commitment in someone with a kind, giving, and loving heart.
The Sims family thanks all those that have participated in her homegoing and contributed to her life. A special thank you to the staff at Hospice of Cincinnati and her nieces Shelay and Aubrey as well as her sister Cheryl that took care of her during the winding down of her life. We are assured her final rest is in peace.
She would want any donations in her memory to be made to the Pleasant Square Community Center.
