LONG, George Howard Jr., 85, of The Woodlands, TX and formerly Cincinnati, OH, died peacefully Saturday, March 21, 2026. Born in Houston, TX on December 9, 1940 to George Sr. & Lillian (nee: Bluntzer) Long, George graduated from W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, TX and attended University of Oregon. His career began as a glass blower with PPG before becoming a flavor chemist with Green & Green in Houston. George retired as a Principal Flavorist from Givaudan Flavours in Cincinnati and was most proud of his development of flavors for Diet Dr. Pepper early in his career. George enjoyed antiquing with his wife for many years, studying Native American Indian history and playing Sudoku. He was a big fan of Willie Nelson's music and enjoyed being the videographer at all family gatherings. Preceded by one daughter, Amy Long, his parents and two siblings, David Long and Betty Long, survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Josephine (nee: Stryjak) Long, one sister, Sherry Long, one daughter & son-in-law, Mary & Wolfgang Maier of Norco, CA, two sons & daughters-in-law, George & Jennifer Long of Pensacola, FL and Thad & Lisa Long of Cincinnati, OH, eight grandchildren, Eric, Andy & Kevin Maier, Erin Long Leal (Marcio) and Lydia Long Flannery (Koby), and Jarred, Alayna & Nathan Long, and one great granddaughter, Olivia Maier. A private family gathering will be held with interment in Seaside Memorial Park, Corpus Christi, TX.
