He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958.
In 1956, he married the love of his life, Mary Alice (née Lowther) Leasure, beginning a partnership that spanned nearly seven decades of family life, travel, and community service. Together they raised two children, Mark (Christye) Leasure of Lebanon and Sherrie (Scott) Bowers of Lebanon, and were blessed with five grandchildren: Jeremy Leasure, Justin Leasure, Kelsey Bowers, Cory (Chris) Goodwin, and Alex Bowers.
George was a respected entrepreneur and community leader. He founded Ghent Manufacturing, Inc. in 1976, which grew into GMi Companies, Inc., where he served as President and then Chairman.

His service included roles as member of Board of Directors at Lebanon Citizens National Bank, Chair and Trustee of the Countryside YMCA Board of Directors, member of the University of Cincinnati/Warren County Advisory Board, Secretary and Treasurer of Education Partners, Inc., member of the executive board at the Warren County Foundation, and member of the Miami University Business Advisory Council.
He also served as a past director of the Warren County Area Progress Council, a member of the Lebanon Kiwanis Club for more than 50 years, and as a member of the Lebanon City Council for six years. He was a dedicated member of the Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce since 1976 and served as its past president.
His commitment to service was widely recognized. He received the Warren County United Way Leadership Award and, in 2017, he and his wife Mary Alice were inducted into the Warren County United Way Hall of Fame. That same year, the couple was honored with the Fabric of the Community Lifetime Achievement Award from Warren County Community Services. In 2020 George received the George Henkle Philanthropy & Community Service Lifetime Achievement Award from the Warren County Foundation.
George was a generous supporter of many organizations that strengthen the community, including Sinclair Community College, the Warren County Historical Society, Lebanon Theatre Company, the Warren County Foundation, Lebanon Food Pantry, Special Olympics, the Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America, the Countryside YMCA Scholarship Program, United Way of Warren County, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Junior Achievement, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and numerous local education programs including Lebanon City Schools.
He especially enjoyed supporting youth opportunities such as the Lebanon High School Band Program, Berry Intermediate School's Space Camp trip, and the Kiwanis Scholarship Program.
George stayed active throughout his life; he enjoyed tennis, racquetball, swimming, and biking with his friends and family.
Above all, he will be remembered for his dedication to family, his entrepreneurial spirit, and his lifelong commitment to improving the Warren County community.
