Fred Bertram
Revis
Oct 20, 1933 — Nov 13, 2024
Lebanon
REVIS, Fred Bertram, 91, of Lebanon passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Hospice of Dayton. Born October 20, 1933, in Hyden, KY to George W. and Mollie (nee: Asher) Revis. When Fred was just 16, he moved from Hyden to South Lebanon to attend Lebanon High School, where as fate would have it, he met Janet, who sat behind him in class. Fred was a star basketball player in high school, and Janet, a cheerleader. They married in 1957 and spent 42 fun-filled years together until Janet's death in 1999.
An avid golfer and member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church, Fred played basketball at the University of Kentucky under Adolph Rupp before enlisting in the Army. This obligated Fred to be a lifelong UK basketball fan. Fittingly, the night before Fred passed away, UK upset Duke in a nailbiter of a game which Fred was able to witness, surrounded by his family.
Fred worked for General Motors for 37 years, and retired as a senior buyer in 1991. Later in life, Fred spent his winters at his Ft. Myers, Florida home, playing countless rounds of golf and enjoying the sunshine with family and friends. On December 14, 2015, Fred was inducted into the Lebanon High School Athletic Hall of Fame, with his children and grandchildren on hand to share in the celebration.
Fred is survived by his three bossy daughters, Cyndi Zopff of Lebanon, Cristy Tokar (Mark) of Oakwood, and Courtney Revis McMullen (Jay) of Chicago; three treasured grandchildren, Christian Zopff, Sam Tokar, and Sophie Tokar; special nephews, John Russell, Scott Revis, and David Taylor, and several other beloved nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Janet (nee: Russell) Revis, his brothers, John, Walter, James, George Jr., and Bruce, and his sisters, Nettie Johnson, Polly Covert, Nora Vaughn, Carrie Mundell, and Grace Taylor.
The visitation for Fred Revis will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until noon with the funeral service immediately following, all at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Ohio Hospice at https://www.ohioshospice.org/give/
