Edward J.
Cloughessy
Feb 1, 1939 — Jan 25, 2026
Cincinnati
Edward J. "Ed" Cloughessy, 86, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on January 25, 2026. Born on February 1, 1939, Ed lived a life defined by kindness, curiosity, and a genuine desire to serve and care for others.
He married his first wife, June, in 1964, and they shared over forty-one years of life together until her passing in 2006.
Later in life, Ed married Beverly Kinney, and together they shared sixteen years of love, travel, and companionship.
Ed spent decades as a Human Resources professional, a role that suited his thoughtful and compassionate nature. He also volunteered as a reader for the blind at the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired for three years, a commitment he deeply enjoyed. He traveled and bicycled with Beverly throughout many countries abroad, finding joy in learning, meeting people, and experiencing other cultures.
Ed loved being of service to others, and he and Beverly were active community volunteers throughout their marriage, always offering their time and attention where it could help others. Ed's faith in Jesus was an important part of his life, and it shaped his kindness, humility, and care for others. He was also active in his church community at First Lutheran Church near Washington Park. Those who knew him will remember his kindness, curiosity, and quiet generosity.
Ed is survived by his son, Michael, and Michael's wife, Jennifer; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Rita. He was preceded in death by his siblings, David and Pat.
In keeping with his wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A simple family committal will take place at a later date. His remains will be buried alongside his first wife, June, in Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, Ohio.
