Douglas Eugene
Moore
Oct 25, 1942 — May 27, 2025
Douglas Eugene Moore, 82, passed away May 27, 2025 at his home in Springboro, Ohio. Born to Vernon and Mildred Moore in Lebanon, Ohio, he joined the military at a young age and served his country proudly as a member of the US Army during the Korean War. Once he was honorably discharged from the Army, Doug had a successful career in management across various industries including direct mail marketing, industrials and ultimately retiring from Ford Motor Company after a 26 year career. Doug was passionate about cooking and loved nothing more than hosting giant feasts for friends and family. He would spend days creating menus, cooking - letting his kids taste test - in anticipation of the grand reveal with his guests. He had many dishes that were favorites over the years including his breadsticks (which his kids teethed on as babies!), his famous homemade pizza and his multiple time award-winning chilis. His kids maintain his legacy and have also won a number of chili competitions with his famous "Sweet to Heat" recipe.
Doug was a complex man and did not have an easy life, but he had a big personality and he loved his family in the best way he knew how. He was always there to give great advice about work, regale you with stories about his time in the Army or talk endlessly about ancient aliens. He was a great storyteller, could always make you laugh and was truly an entertainer at heart.
Doug is survived by his children, grandchildren and grand puppies; his brother, Delbert Moore and sister-in-law, Karen Moore; and his sister Joanne Case and brother-in-law, Jim Case. His family will honor his wishes to not host a memorial service at this time and will celebrate his life privately. To commemorate his legacy, the family would welcome donations to two causes that were close to Doug's heart:
Wounded Warrior Project
and
Mutts With A Mission
