Dorothy "Dottie"
Anna Axelrod
Nov 12, 1946 — Aug 28, 2024
Axelrod Jameson, Dorothy Anna (nee: Karasiewicz), 77, of Turtlecreek Township, Ohio, passed away on August 28, 2024.
Dottie was born on November 12, 1946, in Newark, New Jersey to Henry and Kathryn (Tuman) Karasiewicz. She grew up in Irvington, New Jersey and graduated from Irvington High School in 1964. She attended Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey and graduated in 1968 with a BA in Psychology. She then attended St. Peters College in New Jersey working toward a graduate degree. She was employed by the New Jersey State Employment Service where she worked in the Human Resource Development Center, the Industrial Placement Center and the Professional Placement Center.
Dottie moved with her family from New Jersey to Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania in 1976 and later to Centerville, Ohio in 1980. After taking time off to raise a family, she went back to college and earned an accounting degree from Sinclair Community College. She then worked for Lutheran Social Services of The Miami Valley at Bethany Lutheran Village. Dottie loved giving her time volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, coached many girls' softball teams in the Centerville area and later became an AARP Tax-Aide volunteer, working for 11 years in the Lebanon, Mason and Morrow areas. Former colleagues admired Dottie's ability to prepare complex returns while engaging in lively nonstop conversation with her clients. She truly loved connecting with new people wherever she went.
Dottie retired and moved to Turtlecreek Township in 2004 when she remarried. She and her husband, William Jameson, spent 17 years traveling between their house on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the farm. They enjoyed spending time hiking in the woods, fishing, riding bikes and mushrooming on the UP. They also made trips out west to visit children in Montana and Oregon enjoying the National Parks along the way.
You could see Dottie most days at the Countryside YMCA working out in the Cardio Strength Center, taking water classes or many of the other classes offered. It was there that she found the Lebanon Book Club and joined in 2017. She was introduced to many books from other members and found a warm and welcoming friendship group. She also joined the Franklin- Springboro book club and enjoyed the friends and book selections there as well. She enjoyed exercising, reading, gardening, hiking, fishing for salmon on the UP, mushrooming, flea marketing and spending time with her four grandchildren.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband William Jameson, daughters Tara (David) Hennings, Kimberly (Chad) Nahrup, Lauren Axelrod, grandchildren Kathryn Hennings, Ashton, Bailey and Carson Nahrup, stepchildren Eric, Katherine and Brent Jameson, brother Robert Karasiewicz, sister-in-law Joann Karasiewicz and the father of her children Cary Axelrod.
