David Lloyd
Bray
Jun 15, 1963 — Jan 27, 2022
BRAY, David Lloyd, 58, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Kettering Hospital. Born on June 15, 1963 to Fred and Doris (nee: Harris) Bray in DeQueen, AR, David was a Combat Engineer for the US Army and a certified weather reporter.
Preceded in death by his mother and his infant son Robert Lee Bray, he is survived by his father, his wife, Sarah (nee: Windon) Bray, two daughters, Nikki Windon of Issaquah, WA and Abby Bray of Cincinnati, OH, one brother, Jeffery (Kristen) Bray of Gloucester, MA, one sister, Tonya (Alex Boone) Bray of Wrightwood, CA, and two grandchildren, Mikayla Bray and Jordan Bower.
He was a tremendously kind and caring man who was always there for us when we needed him most. He had an infectious smile and personality and was an amazing person to have a conversation with, because he always had a great story to share. He lived for the thrill of adventure—he was a veteran, a storm chaser, a ghost hunter, mudding on Jeep trail rides, and was an amazing son, father, dad, husband, grandfather, and a great uncle. David loved the outdoors, to camp and explore the UP, Upper Peninsula of Michigan, on Lake Superior.
David served two tours on the front lines in Iraq, and one tour in Afghanistan as an E5 Squad Leader in the Army Combat Engineers. Some comments by those he served with:
"Your smile was contagious and I took note of how you commanded the room and attention."
"Stand proud Soldier, God has called another of his warriors home. We will continue to stand "watch."
"I served with him during two deployments to Iraq. What a great man, Soldier, and hero."
"He gave me a lot of confidence. He sure loved to talk and that guy was just full of information, stories and guidance. He had a way of making everyone feel appreciated and made a shitty place turn out to be not so bad. He was someone to look up to."
