Charles John
Pravel
Oct 30, 1954 — Sep 13, 2021
PRAVEL, Charles John, 66, of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family after valiantly battling cancer for 10 years. Born on October 30, 1954 to Charles and Ruth (nee: Yendes) Pravel in San Francisco, CA, Charlie was a US Navy veteran and a master carpenter. He owned and operated Pravel Construction. An avid surfer and fisherman growing up in Southern California Charlie was known as "a child of the waves". In 1990 he moved with his family to Ohio and fell in love with the rich green rolling hills, sprawling trees and trout filled rivers. Being an outdoorsman, Charlie loved spending time hiking Ohio trails with his wife Cathy and their beloved canine, Sophie and fishing for trout in the rivers with his sons. He was known for his love of music having a wide genre with the Allman Brothers being his favorite. He loved and cherished his family dearly. It was so important to him to have a strong connection with each of his grandchildren. Charlie will be missed by all who knew him. He had a "bigger than life" persona reflected by his quick wit, friendly smile and longing to connect with all who crossed his path.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Catherine (nee: Von Ohain) Pravel, two sons, Ehren (Stefanie) Pravel of Lebanon, Ryan (Kathryn) Pravel of Cincinnati, one brother, John (Sally) Pravel of Eugene, OR, one sister, Shelley (Chuck) Teague of Anacortes, WA and five grandchildren; Charlie, Alice, Penelope, Evelyn and Steven.
