Obituary

GEHRING, Charles Lee "Bud", 82, of Lebanon, OH, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, in Port Clinton, OH.  Born on May 23, 1941, to Charles and Mildred (nee: Himes) Gehring in Tampa, FL. Bud drove sprint cars at various tracks in Ohio and was known as "Bouncing Bud". He then served in the United States Air Force, taking part in the world boxing team. He owned his own portable welding business, was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Columbus, and then owned Bud's Marine in Xenia. He then studied with the United States Coast Guard where he earned his Master Captain's license. He worked as a charter boat captain on his boat, the Lakelander 4 on Lake Erie until his retirement.

Preceded in death by his parents, Bud is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kay (nee: Beutner) Gehring, sons, Robert (Mindy) Gehring of Dripping Springs, TX, Kevin (Carla Thies) Vivier of Huber Heights, OH, Bradley Vivier of Algonac, MI, sister, Shirley King of Cumberland, MD, grandchildren, Katie Vivier, Kyle Vivier, Donald Vivier, Robert Gehring, and Monica Green.

Visitation, Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 10 AM- 12 PM with a service following at 12 PM all at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home, Lebanon.  Interment follows in Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations  be made to the Lake Erie Foundation.  236 Walnut Ave, Lakeside, OH 43440.
