Obituary

Alyne Louise Scott, 78, of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Bethesda North Hospital. Born on July 25, 1945 to Edward and Luetter (nee: Hunt) Dunlap in Fayette, Mississippi.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred Scott, Sr., her son, Fred Scott, Jr., one brother, Edward Dunlap and two sisters, Virgie Dunlap-King and Ann Williams. She is survived by her son, Quentin Scott of Lebanon, six grandchildren (Tiffany, Tyler, Tory, Craig, Stefhon, and Quentin Christopher) and 6 great-grandchildren.

Alyne was a proud grandmother, mother, auntie, and wife.  She was known to many as Lean Lean, Mom Mom, or Momma Scott.  She was an active member of the community, served as a member of the American Legion auxiliary post #186, the NAACP, and most notably through Bethel AME church.

She had the heart as well as the gift for helping take care of people and chose to work in healthcare. She loved a good classic western film, volunteering, being active in church, political events and spending time with her family and friends. In her younger years, you would find her bowling in leagues with her husband.  She prioritized fellowship with others which usually involved introducing them to southern cooking.  When others knew she was cooking they came prepared to battle for her leftover collard greens or green beans.  In addition to cooking, she was always ready to take on her next opponent in a card game.

While we are saddened to share the passing of Alyne, we rest peacefully knowing her strong faith in God had prepared her for the day she would return home.  Our hope is that she is dancing, singing, and reuniting with all the loved ones who preceded her death.
