Obituary

Agnes Gibson McIntosh died Thursday, July 10, 2025.  On February 25, 1940, in Owsley County, Kentucky, Agnes was the first of four children born to Hargis and Dorothy (Amburgy) Gibson.  She graduated from Owsley County High School in 1957 and received her BS and MA from Eastern Kentucky University with additional work from Miami University, University of Cincinnati, University of Dayton, Wright State University, and Portland University.  She worked a year as school secretary and taught four years in Owsley County, spent a year working in the secretary pool at UK College of Nursing, worked a year in Cincinnati at Ohio National Life Insurance.  She taught a year at Clearcreek and worked a year at Sears Service Department before coming to Morrow Elementary where she taught Head Start one summer and retired after 30 years in fourth grade. She was a Census Enumerator in 2000 and served several years as an election officer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, a brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Lorene Gibson of Booneville, Kentucky.

Survivors include a brother, Clyde (Vivian) Gibson, of Troy, Ohio, sister, Judy (Jack) Allen of Englewood, Tennessee, daughter, Monica McIntosh-Smith (Gary) of Morrow, son, Chris McIntosh of Mason, Ohio, Grandsons, Josh( Christina) Kellum and Nicholas McIntosh, Granddaughter, Madison McIntosh, and Great-Granddaughter Kcee Wright.

Agnes was an active member of Morrow Baptist Church, Morrow Progress Club, Little Miami Chamber of Commerce, Lebanon Order of Eastern Star and volunteered at Little Miami Food Pantry and Pine Ridge Nursing Home.  She enjoyed sewing, reading, baking, and travelling having visited 49 states and all but two Canadian provinces.  She operated a home bakery and small catering business for many years.

Visitation, Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at the Vale-Hoskins Funeral Home, Morrow. A Graveside service will follow, at 1:15 PM in Morrow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Cincinanti or Morrow Baptist Church.
