U.S. Veteran

Ray Harper Schwartz, 92, of Warren County most of life, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. Born in Dayton on August 15, 1919 to Robert R. & Mary (nee: Snell) Schwartz, he graduated from Lebanon High School in 1937 and received his B.S. in Agriculture from OSU in 1941. Ray served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the Lebanon VFW. A lifelong farmer, he was a member of the Warren County Farmer’s Club, Farm Bureau and served on the Fair Board for 50+ years. He was also a longtime member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Lebanon F. & A.M., and the US Trotting Association. Ray was a hard worker who also enjoyed spending time with family.

Preceded in death by his wife, Anna in 1989, and son-in-law, Herman Terry, survivors include his son, Dr. Robert Schwartz (Lisa) of Washington Court House, four daughters, Sara Jean Beiler (Joseph) of Celina, Mary Ann Terry of Lebanon, Barbara Jane Vandeventer-Adams (Steve) of Lebanon and Susan Marie Martin (Jack) of Trenton, eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and longtime special companion, Elsie Myers of Trenton.

Visitation Sunday, June 24th, 5-8:00 PM, at Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home, Lebanon. Funeral Monday, June 25th, 11:00 AM, at Lebanon Presbyterian Church, followed by burial in Miltonville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Fayette County Harness Horseman’s Assoc., or Honor Flight. Online condolences available at www.hoskinsfh.com.
