Otto Shaver, 87, of Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012. Born in Ivel, KY on July 19, 1924 to Raleigh & Joan Maude (nee: Templeton) Shaver, he was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of the Fairmont Baptist Church in Kettering. Mr. Shaver retired from NCR in 1986 after 40 years as a machinist and later retired a second time from LCI where he started as a prison guard and later became head machinist. He enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with family.
Preceded in death by one son, Douglas Keith Shaver, one brother, Paul Shaver, one sister, Oneida Brown, and one granddaughter. Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Marcella (nee: Wyman) Shaver, one son, Dane Shaver of Wasilla, AK, two brothers, Phil Shaver of Lebanon and Deck Shaver of Texas, one sister, Delores Smith of Lebanon, five grandchildren, Dennis Shaver (Lisa) of Middletown, Perry Shaver of Colorado, Dale Shaver (Lori) of Lufkin, TX, Nathan Shaver of Ohio and Sara Shaver of Ohio, and six great grandchildren.
Visitation Thursday, May 3rd, 1-2:00 PM, with the funeral service immediately following, all at Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home, Lebanon. Mr. Dale Shaver and Rev. Karen Fleming will officiate and interment to follow in Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial donations are requested to Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village or Hospice of Dayton.
